Today's Devotional - 8/31/26
Good Morning, Friends.
It’s been a while since I’ve written here. The last few months have been some of the hardest I’ve ever walked through. My knee surgery, the complications, the fall, the wound reopening, the blood clot, the back injury, the pain that never seems to let up — it has all taken a toll. I haven’t felt like myself because I physically "can’t" be myself. And that’s a hard pill to swallow.
I’ve asked God, “Why me?” more times than I can count. I’ve felt angry. I’ve felt discouraged. I’ve felt sorry for myself. I’ve felt tired of being tired. Maybe you’ve been there too — that place where your body, your circumstances, or your season feels heavier than you can carry.
But this morning, I want to speak to anyone who is walking through trials, setbacks, or suffering of any kind:
Keep your eyes on what lies ahead. Keep your attention on Jesus.
Not because the pain disappears when you do — but because He steadies you in it.
Scripture for Difficult Seasons
“He will never leave you nor forsake you.” — Deuteronomy 31:6 When everything feels unstable, His presence is not.
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18 - God is not distant from your pain; He draws closer.
"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”— Psalm 73:26 - When your body feels weak, His strength fills the gaps.
"We rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance… and hope.” — Romans 5:3–4 - Suffering is not pointless. God is shaping something eternal within you.
“Cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you.” — Psalm 55:22 - You were never meant to carry this alone.
Processing the Hard Seasons
Difficult seasons require more than endurance — they require 'honesty'. God never asked us to pretend we’re fine. He invites us to bring the anger, the disappointment, the fear, the questions, and the exhaustion straight to Him.
Here’s how we walk through the motions with Him:
Acknowledge the pain. - Healing begins with honesty. God meets you in truth, not denial.
Let yourself feel what you feel. Anger, sadness, frustration — these emotions are not failures. They are human.
Speak Scripture over your situation. Not as magic words, but as anchors for your soul.
Shift your focus from “Why me?” to “Walk with me, Lord.” The question may never be answered, but His presence will never be absent.
Remember that healing is a journey, not a moment. God works in layers, in seasons, in steps, not always in sudden miracles.
Prayer for Today
Dear Father, I bring You every heavy thing I’ve been carrying — the pain, the frustration, the fear, the discouragement, and the questions that have no answers. Meet me in this place. Remind me that You have not left me, not for one moment. Strengthen my heart where my body feels weak. Steady my spirit where my emotions feel fragile. Teach me to keep my eyes on You, even when the road is hard. Walk with me through every step of healing. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Truth to Carry Your suffering is not the end of your story. Jesus is already standing in the place you’re trying to reach.
